Ping (All Windows):
1) Click on START, and select RUN
2) Type "command" (windows 95, 98, ME) "cmd" ( windows 2000, XP)
3) A Windows DOS prompt will appear. Type in "ping" followed by website you are having problems connecting to or an IP address of another computer. Example "www.yahoo.com". Hit ENTER key.
4) You will begin to see a list of the packets "data" that your computer will send to the address or IP. This will then tell if you the information was received by the other computer and how much data loss if any had occurred.
