Anti-Spam protection blocks spam with Bayesian filters, content filters, blacklists, whitelists, HTML trick detection, and more.
At least half of all email sent is junk, and it just keeps getting worse. Junk email wastes both computer resources and peoples' time. Some junk email brings with it malicious code that can install spyware or alter your browser settings.
Starstream Communications reduces spam with a multi-pronged approach, putting incoming mail through a series of tests to ferret out spam.
Statistical Filters
These filters can learn what words are most likely to appear in junk email and then tag messages containing those words as spam.
Phrase Filters
Our filters can search the body of the message for phrases to avoid unsolicited mail and potentially offensive content.
URL Domain Black Lists
The system can search for and take action on blacklisted domain names that appear as links in an email message.
Connection Checks
Verifies that the user connecting to our Server is not associated with a domain or IP Black List.
Sender Policy Framework (SPF)
SPF Enables stronger message sender authentication using an extension of Domain Name System (DNS). This helps prevent phishing attacks where criminals pose as trusted entities to con people out of sensitive personal information like passwords and bank account numbers.
HTML tricks and broken MIME headers
Spammers often try to beat filters by using HTML code or broken headers to hide or obscure the message. Starstream fights back by checking for these tricks and tagging mail as spam if it has too many of these common signs of junkmail.
